A Very Vintage New Year

We made it to 2022! The ball has been dropped, the confetti released, and the hope for a brighter year is upon us. The past couple of years have been hard but we have stuck it out together.

Being a part of a wonderful vintage community has been a welcome escape from all the hard things going on in the world. It’s okay to need that escape. We all need to have something we enjoy that gives us some time to not have to think about everything else.

For me, that’s hunting for vintage. (Check out my Thrifting Guide). I love every step of the process of finding fabulous old pieces, bringing them back to life, offering them to you in my shop, or adding them to my personal collection. It’s healing and cathartic for me.

It’s important to me that these items get saved from the landfills (already way too full) and reused or repurposed for a new generation. I mean, I built my entire business around it!

WHAT’S TRENDING IN 2022?

COLOR! If you’re like me, color has always been a part of your home. And now it’s coming back in some of the other home decorating styles that are typically more monochromatic. You’ll also see more rattan and other natural elements. Velvet textiles, curvy lines, and plenty of Cottagecore (Grandma Chic) will also be popular.

As a former interior designer, I think it’s important to blend your vintage pieces with some newer pieces you might have. Create layers and a story with your interiors. Your home should look like the decor was collected over time across several generations. The number one thing to remember is - if you love it, that’s all that matters! It’s YOUR home. Style it the way you want!

Check out my friend Jennifer’s eclectic home! Her boho meets mid-century modern style is a maximalist Heaven! She shares her home as well and available vintage finds on her Instagram page, EmeRubysAdventuresinThriftland.

So much beautiful Cottagecore! Look at those lamps! Haley has such great style! These treasures and more are at Dot and Penny inside Vinterest Nashville!

Colorful glass is a great way to add your favorite color pops to a room! Vintage glass and more can be found in my booth at Vinterest Nashville as well as on my Instagram Page.

A room should never allow the eye to settle in one place. It should smile at you and create fantasy
